Our Trip to SFO and Pier 39

Our initial days at San Rafael were gr8 and we are glad we have been able to maintain the zeal and gusto even today. Golden Gate Bridge and Baker Beach were already covered on the first saturday and then sunday was the day to explore San Francisco downtown. Umpteen attempts to convince my roomies to plan ahead went in vain.

We let out with minimum information and boarded the bus. This time we got the bus much faster and we were already in downtown San Francisco-Financial District as it is called. Posing for snaps had been a rountine now with close to 250 snaps taken on the first day itself, I was all set to beat the record.

We roamed around downtown and reached Ferry Building and were so pleased to see a small Arts Fair set there. A group of musicians and a drummer caught our attention and we were amazed at the performance.

As I said before, we didnot have any fixed plans and just decided at the spur of the moment that we could head to Fisherman's Wharf and I had heard about it a lot. We had no idea how to get there and the map showed it quite near. But we just saw a street car with the sign board for Fisherman's Wharf. We blessed our stars that all was set to happen well and we waited for the next street car. We reached Pier 39-Fisherman's Wharf. Wow, it was a gr8 place to be and it resembled a big Fair. Click!!Click!! so many Clicks happened and we were spinning our heads in all directions.

Manan wanted to see the sharks being fed in the aquarium. Not that he was obsessed with them but he was just glad that he would be on the other side of the glass and he was going to be a mute spectator. Alas! we couldnt go since there was a big queue and the shark was hungry and could not wait for us to get in :-) We roamed and roamed till we were tired and then fed ourselves now.

It was starting to get cold now. Although we were better geared up today but the wind was killing. Although we were getting late, we couldnt meet the 2 attractions which made our day. One was a small comic play enacted by a 55 year old woman at one of the open theatres and the other attraction were the sea lions..kok..kok...they made such strange noises that by the time we reached home, prasann and I had started making those strange noises back of Manan to scare him:-)

Such are the wonderful memories when you let yourself loose and explore the world. I must say that it was a good experience and it made our day. Although we were tired by the time we reached back home, it was definitely worth it.
Trip Date: Sunday, May 27th 2007.
